Classes and Workshops
Classes have resumed at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts. Mondays and Tuesdays 10am-noon and 1pm-3pm
Private and small group classes held at my studio in Fletcher.
Due to COVID-19, Proof of vaccination is required to take classes. Mask requirements are determined by the CDC guidelines, Givens Estates and the Black Mountain Center for the Arts.
Art Classes are designed for adults, beginner through advanced. Using a step by step process, students learn the fundamentals of drawing, painting, design/composition, perspective, working with color and more. Students also learn how to add depth, contrast, dimension and power to their work.

Lessons are both fun and informative. They are tailored to meet the needs of the individual student according to their level of knowledge and experience.
Beginners are encouraged to try their hand at several mediums.
I offer instruction in Pencil. Charcoal. Colored Pencil, Pastel, Oils, Acrylics, Scratchboard, Pyrography, Pen and Ink, Water Color and mixed media.
Subject matter is based on each students area of interest including, but not limited to landscape, wildlife, still life, abstract, portraits and floral. Each year students taking classes at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts are given the unique opportunity to show their work in an Emerging Artists showcase. This annual show is open to the public and receives quite a bit of publicity.
Classes are offered at the following locations:

Mondays 10am - Noon / 1-3pm
Tuesdays 10am - Noon / 1-3pm
Tuition for on going classes: $100.00 per month. Includes 4 -2 hour classes. Months containing 5 weeks will be an additional $25.00
If you miss a class or several classes due to illness, vacation, or inclement weather you may do make up classes at your convenience at any class time or location listed above.
Note: Make up classes expire after 6 months.

Workshops are designed for adults, beginner through advanced and are held periodically throughout the year at various locations. These workshops include 1, 2 and 4 day classes of intensive study focusing on the basics of preparing a painting surface, creating an image and painting techniques used to add depth and dimension to your work. The image is selected for the student and the classes are conducted as a paint along with the instructor. Students are required to bring their own supplies.
Workshops are offered in landscape (both studio and plein air), portrait, wildlife, pet portraits and still life. Workshops are limited to 8 students per class allowing for more one on one time with each student. Check back on this site for updated listings for on going classes and workshop schedules.
